I am running a COMPAQ 386/20, 130MB Winchester hard disk, 40MB Plus hard card,
5MB extended memory (converted to expanded by DESQVIEW). I run almost 2MB of
RAM disk, and 1024KB hard disk CACHE. I am having no problems with this set
up and get 544K windows in DESQVIEW.
In DV, I setup the EMS buffer for 20KB, common memory for 16KB, and run
PCB in 480KB windows (which allows plenty for the external protocols, DOORs,
etc.)
I am running a Hayes Smartmodem 2400 on Node 1 and a USRobotics 9600 HST
on Node 2. I lock COM2 at 19,200 baud with no problems.
If you have any suggestions, comments, etc., concerning my setup, please
advise me at my BBS number. I'm always open to ideas for improvement.
I've been running DESQVIEW since 1987 and most of these settings are by
'trial' and 'error'....ooooh boy have there been errors...ha!
BTW, be sure and 'comment out' my remarks in the CONFIG.SYS, etc., files
if you plan to 'plug' them into your setup for a trial operation.
To use the PCBPROT.DAT files, copy PCBPROT1.DAT into your Node 1 PCB
subdirectory and rename it to PCBPROT.DAT .... copy PCBPROT2.DAT into
your Node 2 subdirectory and rename it to PCBPROT.DAT.
